The life of Henry Tandey (famously known as “The Soldier Who Didn’t Shoot Adolf Hilter”) was inspiration for Billy Byron’s story, as described in the forward and in the back of the book. This is a good book but the thing that will make you jump is when this young boy has a chance to stop WW2 (World War 2) but it might be reverse-phycology. Private Billy Byron, who is based on the real life of Henry Tandey, is an orphan who grows up and goes off to fight in Europe during World War I. Being able to talk to LMC about what she enjoyed most in the book, and how it made her feel has been lovely.

A story about Billy Byron, the most decorated soldier of WW1, who once had the chance to end the war before it even began, and how he tried to fix his mistake. Slightly Foxed introduces its readers to books that are no longer new and fashionable but have lasting appeal.Barney and his mum are taking the train to Cornwall via London, having lost all their possessions in the Coventry bombings. This follows the story of five women, who all have ties to Camp Firelight, a summer camp for girls of all ages. The story he tells is of his friend Billy and all the wonderous and amazing things he did in the war that earned him several medals.

This book is not simply for history buffs as the sense of despair, uncertainty and chaos is equally applicable to many other circumstances.

Combining the brilliantly realized battle action of Gates of Fire and the masterful characterization of Mary Renault's The Last of the Wine, Eagle in the Snow is nothing less than the novel of the fall of the Roman empire.
