About this deal

But then an unexpected disaster threatens her career prospects, her relationship with Luke, and her available credit line. Told with a wit and humour that manages to breakthrough the relentlessness of Rebecca's precarious position. Sophie Kinsella has sold over 40 million copies of her books in more than 60 countries, and she has been translated into over 40 languages. With a delightful almost quirky protagonist in Becky and the innovative backdrop of the world of financial media(!

I love Becky Bloomwood - I wouldn't actually want to be her in reality, but her ditzy and slightly crazy way of living life offer me an escapist route into being, even if for just a short while, the kind of person who is the complete opposite to my self. I read the first four books of the series when I was in my early teens so couldn’t relate to Becky AT ALL, but was addicted all the same!I think that if Rebecca had grown into a miraculously responsible woman, totally transformed, changing her expending ways into frugality, I would have been bored. Except, Cutting Back seems impossible, and her attempts to Make More Money just get her into trouble. I had known about the title of this novel since I was in the third semester, for about one and a half years ago when my lecturer asked me to read my favourite book. It always amazes me who we allow to speak in this culture, and by “allow” I mean by our tacit acquiescence to whatever crap the corporate powers force-feed us. moment for her, and no growth or anything in her character, and that somewhere down the line she marries The Guy, I decided to stop reading for good.

It is another substantial factor that contributes to the majority of the novel, with Suze, her best friend who supports her as much as possible even though Becky has a lot of problems. Sophie wrote her first novel under her real name, Madeleine Wickham, at the tender age of 24, whilst she was working as a financial journalist. Making mistakes like she makes once is funny never learning from your mistakes book after book would just make the character pathetic to me.There will always be a sexy, successful, intelligent, no-bullshit kind of guy who will find your stupidity and poor impulse control endearing. Take the caustic wit of Gillian Flynn and the comedy of manners of Edith Wharton, add a British accent—that’s Sophie Kinsella. The ever so lovely Suze, Beckys flat mate and best friend, her extremely loving parents who seem to believe excuse after excuse that Becky comes up with and even the ever so handsome Mr Luke Brandon.
